6 points to consider when purchasing a high-precision gimbal

There are many types of high-precision gimbal on the market, so how to choose a suitable high-precision gimbal? We can screen from the aspects of rotation speed, selection angle, working voltage, load, control method, and environmental indicators.

Here's a brief introduction to the main technical indicators for selecting a high-precision gimbal:

1. Rotation speed

The AC-type high-precision pan/tilt uses an AC motor, and the rotation speed is fixed. Generally, the horizontal rotation speed is 4°/sec to 6°/sec, and the vertical rotation speed is 3°/sec to 6°/sec. Most of the DC-type high-precision gimbal uses a DC stepper motor, which has the advantages of high speed and variable speed, and is very suitable for occasions that need to quickly capture the target. There are two common speed change control methods for the rotation speed of the high-precision gimbal. One is full speed control, which realizes a smooth speed change transition within the speed change range of the gimbal; the other is step-by-step progressive control. Several gears are set within the variable speed range of the precision gimbal, and each gear corresponds to a different voltage (rotation speed). Before the operation, you must select the speed gear to be rotated, and perform the rotation operation on the gimbal in all directions.

2. Rotation angle

The rotation angle of the high-precision gimbal, especially the vertical rotation angle, has a lot to do with the installation method of the load (protective cover/camera/lens assembly). The horizontal rotation angle of the high-precision gimbal can generally reach 360° infinite rotation, and the user can also set the limit according to the actual situation on site. The vertical rotation angle of the high-precision top-mounted PTZ is generally +30° to -90°, and the vertical rotation angle of the side mount can reach ±180°, but the vertical rotation angle in normal use is +20° to -90° That's it.

3. Working voltage

AC24V and AC220 2 kinds, pay special attention when using, otherwise the decoder will burn. The power consumption of a high-precision gimbal is generally low power consumption with a small load-bearing capacity, and large power consumption with a large load-bearing capacity. There is also a small indoor PTZ powered by DC 6V, which can install batteries inside and use an infrared remote control for remote control.

4. Load

The load of the high-precision gimbal is a direct reflection of the power of the working motor of the gimbal, and cannot exceed the load regulation of the gimbal, otherwise, the decoder cannot work normally. A suitable high-precision gimbal should be selected according to the total weight of the camera and shield. If the weight of the gimbal is less than the actual load, not only will the operation function decrease, but also the motor and gear of the gimbal will be damaged due to long-term overload.

5. Control method

When using a high-precision gimbal, it is recommended to choose a gimbal with control input and video input and output interfaces installed on the fixed position of the gimbal, and it is useful between the fixed part and the rotating part (ie, between the camera and the camera). The connection between the control input line and the video output line of the camera and the lens formed by the soft spiral line. After such a high-precision pan/tilt is installed and used, the connection of the rotating part will not be damaged due to long-term use. This is especially true of high-precision gimbal for outdoor use.

6. Environmental indicators

The requirements for high-precision gimbal used indoors are not high, and the indicators of the use environment of high-precision gimbal are mainly aimed at high-precision gimbal used outdoors. These include the environmental temperature limit, humidity limit, dustproof and waterproof IP protection level of the gimbal. Generally, the temperature range of high-precision gimbal used in outdoor environment is -20°C to +60°C. If it is used in a lower temperature environment, a temperature-controlled heater can be installed inside the gimbal to make the temperature lower limit reach -40°C or lower. The humidity index is generally 95% non-condensing; the IP level of dustproof and waterproof should reach IP66 or above. In addition, suitable materials and protective layers should be selected and used according to the environment in actual use of the high-precision gimbal. For example, the iron shell is not suitable for use in humid and corrosive environments.
